Lesson 1: Habitats and who lives there? In this lesson, the children are introduced to what a habitat is and think about what different habitats there might be in Britain. They are introduced to six habitat characters and try and match a description to a character. They think about what each character needs in order to survive in its habitat.

Lesson 2: Habitat explorers The children become habitat explorers, exploring a local space and looking out for habitats there. They then imagine they are one of the habitat characters who has just visited this space. They write a postcard home, explaining what it was like and whether they would be able to live there.

Lesson 3: Can you help me? This lesson is based on the idea of habitat conservation. The children receive letters from two of the habitat characters whose habitats are under threat. The children discuss the problems and try to think of ways these characters can be helped.
