Suffolk is now part of Natural England's East of England region, which comprises Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

Suffolk Suffolk contains 145 SSSIs. Many are of international importance, including coastal habitats, wetlands, heathlands and ancient woods. There are some nationally important sites for the study of quaternary geology and coastal geomorphology. Suffolk also has six National Nature Reserves, most of which are easily accessible by the public.
