Norfolk

Norfolk is a large and diverse county with tremendous nature conservation value from the unique wetlands of the Norfolk Broads in the east to the magnificent wild open vistas of the North Norfolk Coast. Breckland, an ancient arid heathland landscape lies to the south of the county, and is notable for its rare plants and birds. There are 18 National Nature Reserves – key sites for nature conservation- in Norfolk in addition to 157 Sites of Special Scientific Interest.

Norfolk is home to many special plants and animals, which exist here through careful management of land and water. Natural England's Norfolk office works in partnership with over 800 owners and occupiers of SSSIs as well as with other conservation bodies, statutory agencies and authorities towards this goal.
